Sandy Sanderson, RN, BSN, CCM, ACSM-HFS is joining the faculty for Martial Arts University, bringing over 20 years experience in healthcare, disease management and health and wellness.

Ms. Sanderson has occupied a variety of positions in the healthcare industry that encompass ER, Trauma, Internal Medicine, Home Health, Disease Management and Health and Wellness, Case Management, Clinical Operations and Quality Management. She provided education on stroke care, diabetes, heart failure, COPD, and hypertension for quality improvement organizations in 7 states, and wrote the Heart Failure best practice tool for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Home Health Quality Initiative in January, 2008. She has developed, marketed and sold an educational video on “Heart Failure Trends and Treatments” and published articles in The Remington Report July 2007 and Home Health Management and Practice magazine February 2008/Volume 20, Number 2, 125-134. Ms. Sanderson has been a featured speaker for the Quality Improvement Conference sponsored by Decision Health in Chicago, IL in 2004 as well as at the National Association for Home Care annual conference in Denver, CO in 2008. She has served on advisory committees and panels for the National Telehealth Reference and the REACH Collaborative in New York and has participated as a subject matter expert, speaker and consultant to home health agencies, organizations, and device companies across the country. Ms. Sanderson is a member of the Medqic Speaker’s Bureau , has served on the education committee for the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses and served a term as the Vice President of the Middle Tennessee Chapter of the Case Management Society of America. Sandy has spent 2 ½ years as the manager of complex care management for one of the largest managed care organizations in the country, served as Director of Health Services for a multi-disciplinary team providing Case Management, Disease Management and Lifestyle Management/Wellness services, and currently serves as the Director of Utilization Management and Quality Services for a national radiology benefits management organization. Ms. Sanderson is duly certified by the American College of Sports Medicine as a Certified Health Fitness Specialist, with a focus on weight management and working with individuals with chronic health conditions, such as Diabetes, Heart Failure, High Blood Pressure, and Arthritis as a trainer and health coach.
